I am passionate about scientific outreach, networking groups, and teaching, especially using modern tools.
I’m a co-organizer of the following larger networks that bring together a broad range of microbiome scientists.

Wild Animal Microbiome Evolution

WAME is a newly started special topic network funded by the European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB) offering events, workshops, and resources.

Animal Microbiome Research Group

AMRG is an early career researcher-led group offering free annual virtual meetings and a year-round Slack workspace.

Earth HoloGenome Initiative

I’m an Associate Manager of the EHI: an enterprise aiming at promoting, facilitating, coordinating, and standardizing hologenomic research on wild organisms worldwide.

I’m an Associate Editor for two journals.

Previous outreach

The Molecular Ecologist

I was a science writer at The Molecular Ecologist, a website about molecular ecology and evolution. Wrote 16 articles during 2016-2017.

Natursidan

I was a popular science writer at Natursidan, a Swedish website about Nature-related news. Wrote 18 articles during 2015-2016.

Twitter (research lab account) - Managed my former research lab's Twitter account for four years (2015-2018) in order to promote colleagues' research, publications, presentations, job positions, etc.

Creator and admin of research-related RSS feeds - Avian Malaria Papers (web site and Twitter account), Gut Microbiome Papers (Twitter account).

Volunteered at outreach events, including Conservation Biology Day 2019 at SCBI, Front Royal, VA and Culture Night at Lund, Sweden in 2014 where I demonstrated biological concepts to the public.

Teaching as Instructor and TA at various courses, including the 'Workshop on Genomics', a two-week-long intense graduate level workshop in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic (photo below).
